Ardere is a curatorial duo composed by Art Director Manuela Nobile and curator Sara van Bussel. The project focuses on bringing contemporary art into the night, merging the exhibition format with the lively environment of clubs or event settings. The aim is to change the fruition of art, prompting experiences that embrace the new and the different, accepting the unknown as inherent to the process in the belief that art should be part of the everyday.

ABOUT

MANIFESTO

Etymologically, the verb to burn is described with multiple connotations, first and foremost the following:
1. tr: Burning by fire
2. Be lit, produce flame

3. Fig., inflame with desire, experience an intense feeling

Reflection on the meaning of this word is relevant as it contains a will, a desire in a single verb.

Ardere represents the concretization of a specific vision of what art is – or should be – today.

Driven by the desire for experimentation, Ardere’s projects are designed to light up the night with artistic interventions tailor made to the specific chosen theme and location, aiming to facilitate dialogue, exchange and comparison between the public of the night and the art public.
Research is the driving force of each exhibition, all grounded in the acceptance of the unknown, seen as an integral part of the process.

Ardere reflects a vision of making art that is first and foremost active and vital: working in the temporal space of the night opens up to the realm of possibility, the encounter with others free from any prejudice, creating a democratic space accessible to all.

Through different types of exhibitions, such as the body-focused trilogy 'Look at Me' or the 'Contaminazioni' format in which art and live music fully merged, the duo aims to bring art to unconventional and above all non-institutional places, trying to establish a dynamism in the mechanism of artistic fruition that is independent from sectoral contexts.

The experience of the work of art passes through various factors: observation, study, but also senses. Bringing artistic interventions into environments to be inhabited and to be experienced facilitates this process whose outcome is unknown, but which Ardere aims to make possible, in the belief that art and life are sides of the same coin.
