Although fundamental aspects that characterize the place of the strip club and its workers are undeniably present, the project aims to emancipate from the dialectic of the democratization of the body, the political battle over sex work or the dynamics of attribution of meaning typically associated with places of exploitation of sex. The attempt of Look at Me is, if we want to make it simpler, to showcase a clear acceptance of pleasure, of fun, of work as a bearer of the possibility of expression.

Beyond the concept, the reflection, the emotional, erotic and/or political recognition there is a form of free aesthetic and sensorial satisfaction that finds form and language in artistic intervention. The aspect of the show, the shedding of meaning and the simplicity of the appearance are elements that belongsto the strip club as well as to any artistic dimension: what changes between the two is the social connotation, the socio-cultural diversification of the public, the legacies and ideological annexes. What we wanted to create is a simple meeting space between two worlds which, although different, are based on a prerequisite and above all a common need: the conscious valorization of the senses.

Sharing an aesthetic curiosity together, a gaze full of whatever one possesses within oneself, brings together visiting a strip club with visiting an exhibition. The dimension of PUBLIC space, and public as SHARED, creates in both realities an opportunity for free acceptance of desires and fantasies, sublimating them through different languages. The chosen artists intervene on different nuances of this same concept: Michele Rizzo investigates the gaze, using movement and repetition.

Giulia Crispiani reflects on the relationship between the body and the word, the pleasure of the senses that are articulated on and with the language, the sounds, the echoes of the letters as we read. Flaminia Veronesi invents a world of dancing mermaids, beautiful in their sensuality, in an intervention that straddles the fantastic and the real. 

Intrinsic to the idea of ​​the project is also the desire to create an opportunity for contact between the two different audiences: on the one hand the regular visitors to the strip club, on the other the lovers of contemporary art. Gathering the latter in a different context than the one they are used to stimulates a different vision both of the work of art in and of itself and of its mode of fruition: who says that an artistic intervention is assimilated in the best way among the neutral walls of an institution? Why are the silence of art galleries, the soft spotlights and calm attention considered as ideal experiential conditions for admiring an artwork? On the other hand, the regular visitor to the strip club will come into contact with another type of aesthetics, in a simple attempt to offer a stratification of the aesthetic experience. 

Look at Me is a simple meeting, without pretensions or expectations, 

emphasizing the points of contact and at the same time accepting with open arms the contrast that exists and/or is created between an art exhibition and the cult of the spectacle of the body, through an intervention that focuses on the more complete acceptance of a fundamental thing: the vitality of the act.
